Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue techniques focus massage work on specific joints and muscle groups, by accessing deeper layers of the soft tissue. Beginning slowly and easing into deep muscle tissue overall improved tone is achieved. This technique is particularly helpful with chronic pain, injury rehabilitation and inflammation related pain caused by arthritis. Myofascial Release (MFR) MFR works directly on the restricted fascia, a tough connective tissue that encases muscles and extends throughout the body. It is an important component in effective massage therapy because general massage techniques do not address this type of tissue restriction; often the cause for reoccurring, stubborn muscle pain and dysfunction. By applying traction, the restricted fascia stretch, restoring the body’s natural function. Trigger Point Therapy Trigger point therapy is a technique that applies pressure on specific myofascial trigger points, interrupting the pain signals. The result is an overall reduction in pain and dysfunction while re-educating the muscles into pain-free habits. |
Soft Tissue Release (SRT)
SRT is a form of sports massage therapy that is a powerful injury treatment technique combining deep tissue massage with active stretching. This technique is very effective for relieving lower back pain and chronic muscle tension due to repetitive movements and stress. Immediate results include a decrease in pain and improved mobility. Pre-Natal Massage Multiple forms of massage can be used throughout pregnancy including trigger point and deep tissue therapies. This reduces strain on muscles, fascia and joints caused by poor posture and ligament stress. Self Massage Techniques An integral part to long term improvement includes the teaching of simple, self massage techniques. This continues the healing process at home and engages the patient in the process improving self awareness. Integrated Stretching Integrated Stretching is an integral aspect of any massage session. Combined with the above techniques it brings an additional level of tension release resulting in increased muscle control, flexibility and range of motion. |
